About AV Staff
During his time as a meeting planner for the pharma industry, organising over 40 meetings attended by more than 5000 delegates, Nick Rowe witnessed a growing trend for increasingly complex presentation requirements.
Sometimes he had to simultaneously film keynote speakers, play video clips, run translators and their equipment and show dual screen simultaneous presentations in two languages; whilst presenters are adding last minute changes to their subsequent slide shows. At other times it would just be the fact that a presentation had originated in the Far East in an old version of Powerpoint whose formatting would be completely changed if it was edited and saved or even just screened using latest PC or Mac versions of Powerpoint; inevitably it would be provided or changes would be required seconds before the presentation was due to begin.
Nothing was ever a problem while he sat at the back of the meeting room ensuring that all this technology and the speakers were looked after, however at the back of his mind would be all other aspects of the meeting that were also his responsibility. Luckily in most cases he had a fellow meeting planner working as travel staff who could manage events outside the room; however this responsibility should be taken care of in a responsible way and not by luck alone.
This inspired the idea for AV Staff; to provide
experienced ex-meeting planners to join meeting teams in the same way as travel
staff, but with a specific expertise to run the presentations and AV, freeing
up the meeting planner to manage and oversee all other aspects of the meeting
and to deal with all crises that may occur.
